Biography
Allier Zelaya was born in San Francisco August 17, 1979. Being that both of his parents were born in Nicaragua and that his two older siblings were raised in the United States, Allier was exposed to various types of American and Latin music from birth.
Growing up in the inner-city, Allier was raised in the Hip Hop culture and started writing raps in the 8th grade. Around the same time, he started going to house parties and became fascinated with DJing. Wanting to learn the art, he began buying vinyl records at 13 years old, before he even owned a pair of turntables. A year later he bought his first pair of mis-matching turntables and a mixer. Finally saving enough money at 16 to buy his first pair of used Technics 1200's, a future headlining Bay Area DJ was born.
Using his nickname, Baby Al Dog, Allier wrote raps and practiced DJing daily. He started to get noticed for his skills as he started DJing at house parties and performing at school rallies and talent shows.
After graduating in 1997, Allier and his partner Jose started getting hired for house parties throughout San Francisco. Their crew, “Realistic Phunk”, become so poular that they locked down steady club gig at a bar in Berkeley called The Templebar in 2000.
Later that year Baby Al Dog became part of the DJ rotation on Thursday nights inside the Mission District's own Galia Nightclub. The experience was key in getting him hired for San Francisco's legendary party “Rendez Vu” inside Club 238 (Now Larry Flynts Hustler Club). After a few guest spots in 2001, Allier became a regular part of the rotation until the club closed at the end of that year. At 21, he had suddenly become a steady working DJ in the Bay Area's club scene.
Due to promoters preferring his real name, DJ Allier is the name that stuck, but many people remember Tha Baby Al Dog from his early days of DJing, which is why he never fully dropped the name.
DJ Allier's popularity has made him a staple in the Bay Area club scene for over 4 years. He is liked by promoters and club goers alike because of his work ethic and approach which keep him current on all musical trends. He is also one of the Bay Area’s most versatile DJ’s being able to throw down Hip Hop (Upscale, Underground, Hyphy), R&B, Reggaeton, Reggae Dancehall, Old School, and Top 40 sets with the best of them. Allier rocks the party no matter what the format.
After releasing multiple mixtapes that have sold world wide, spinning at gigs every weekend for close to 3 years, and becoming a regular guest mixer on WILD 94.9; Allier has definitely become one of San Francisco's most recognizable DJ's.
Now in his mid-twenties, the future still looks bright for this up and comer. He sends thanks to the many promoters and club goers who have supported him over the past 5 years and especially to anyone visiting this website.
